Meet Michelle
Hi! My name is Michelle Stephens and I am the founder of The Songbird and the Bee. Creating lovely things has been a lifelong joy.
Since being a very young child, I discovered the ability to express myself creatively, whether it be through fine art or crafts such as toy making. Now my creative journey has led me to a little studio in the Blue Mountains, where these passions have combined into something that I can joyfully share with you.
A Life of Creativity
I feel that these two career backgrounds have truly been the force behind Songbird coming together and fostering the foundations of this gentle woodland fantasy.
The Songbird’s Spirit
The name The Songbird and the Bee is inspired by growing up in the 70s, when life felt a little more magical. Think Harry Nilsson’s The Point, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, roller skates, and glitter Dragstars, and somehow surviving without any padded protection. The Songbird and the Bee deeply resonates with me. I imagine it as a story told with a whimsical musical score: a flute, a clarinet, and the enchanting songs of woodland birds. I’ve always found birds to be magical, and I hope that same sense of wonder shines through every candle I make.
